August 8 Work Update
Just posted to twitter:
It is the start of a week and I have two scripts to write by Friday, both of which are for unannounced projects.
Awhile back I posted that list of new stuff, and in dribs and drabs things are being announced. Two licensed projects, my Lord Of The Rings one-shot and a Supernatural miniseries can be checked off the list (I completed the LOTR months back, and am past the halfway mark on the other). THE MASSIVE was announced and between you and me, its not just limited to those Dark Horse Presents issues. That leaves another, smaller creator-owned project, and the two others I mentioned up top, one of which should be announced this month and the other in October.
All this makes for a pretty insane time, as there is a lot of overlap between the new stuff and the projects that are ending - DMZ and Northlanders. Which means, right now, I am writing SIX books, which can only lead to madness.
When I am running at peak efficiency, I can turn an average script around in 2-3 days. Worst case, its more like 5 days, but I’m on a good run right now and look forward to a productive week.
We also had a near miss with setting DMZ up as a television show, at a verrrry respectable network, and its a bit crushing. I had hoped the whole new “DC Entertainment” meant they’d be better about this sort of thing… and this deal seemed like a gift from heaven… but apparently not.
